Elastic, makers of the hugely popular Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats), and three solutions built on top of the stack (Elastic Enterprise Search, Elastic Observability, and Elastic Security) is growing very fast and so is our marketing team. This key role will be significantly involved in global demand generation campaigns and build and accelerate revenue-driving activities. We’re looking for someone that’s technically curious, unafraid to challenge themselves, and has a keen interest in understanding our business and the customer’s journey.  Elastic is growing quickly and the organization is evolving to support more complexity in offerings and go to market motions. In order to achieve results, we use a wide variety of programs that impact different areas of the sales funnel (from branding to pipeline acceleration). A heavy emphasis will be placed on curating existing Elastic Stack users into an engagement for opportunities. 

Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

This is a critical role in the development and delivery of the brand’s digital presence, driving purchasing behavior through the use of all available digital techniques, including emerging platforms and technologies.  With a strong focus on the key business metrics including lead creation, lead flow, revenue, demand, traffic, site conversion, retention, and engagement, you will lead the growth of the digital business to deliver growth in our top of funnel lead flow and expand our customers’ and prospects’ positive experience with the Brand.  Leadership responsibilities include the user experience, email, customer loyalty, and program and channel management functions as well as marketing operations. Qualified candidates must have a strong ability to lead a team of digital experts.


  • Develop digital marketing plans to increase traffic and engagement with new, prospective customers, building a “best customer” program that enables passionate brand advocates, while also driving cross-selling opportunities in service to increasing pipeline.
  • Lead the thinking for mobile platform development:  Website content, ecommerce, partnership and community development, consumer research, marketing, and website technology
  • Manage dedicated digital staff as well as influencing a cross-functional team of web developers
  • Actively partner and collaborate with cross-functional partners including key stakeholders, public relations, social, creative, advertising, and go-to-market and campaign teams to ensure a consistent message and focus across all digital touch points in service to driving pipeline.
  • Partner to develop advertising strategies for this space that provide key insights, meaningful engagements and build the brand across our segmented targets.
  • Leverage the use of marketing analytics to provide insights and make recommendations to reach the customer in new ways to improve marketing ROI recommendations and overall strategies.
  • Opportunity to develop and build a team of demand generation and digital marketing experts focused on various demand channels (email, web, paid media).
  • Define and own KPIs for targets and growth
  • Partner across functions within marketing (product marketing, web, content, design, marketing operations, regional marketing) as well as beyond marketing (product management and business systems) 
  • Identify critical areas of improvement across the funnel while developing plans to address challenges in a rapid and effective manner.
  • Oversee and optimize key demand generation budgets
  • Experience with SMB, mid-market, to Enterprise SaaS, ideally mix of two with a variety of ACV / Lead Lifecycles.
  • Strong data analysis skills via various tools
  • Experience initiating and driving strategic, cross-functional programs to completion
  • Demonstrated experience collecting and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data to uncover customer insights.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • 15+ years of marketing experience with at least 10 years digital experience with integrated media and marketing platforms that include experience in social, digital, and traditional marketing.
  • Undergraduate degree in marketing, liberal arts, or related field. MBA preferred.
  • Experience and exposure to SaaS.
  • Experience with managing teams of 20+ people.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing digital marketing initiatives that will scale to support the requirements of a growing organization with multiple solutions.
  • Deep understanding of the digital environment and evolving tools and platforms used to improve online presence with excellent working knowledge of social media outreach strategies.  Able to translate trends into new business opportunities. 
  • Strong leadership and consensus building skills, with a willingness to continually embrace personal and professional development.
  • Prior experience leading and developing a team of professionals, as well as working across indirect reports and cross functional partners.
  • Able to interact with all levels of the organization; must be able to articulate a vision and develop and deliver supporting marketing plans.
  • Strong relationship builder both within the organization and with external partners including agencies.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and change. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

Among the key requirements include;

  • Direct experience running and managing demand generation programs
  • Expertise in various demand channels including email, paid media, website optimization
  • Experience in creating and managing demand channels across multiple solution areas 
  • Strong analytics capability - using tools like Google Analytics and SFDC
  • Experience in marketing automation tools (Marketo/Eloqua) and SFDC
  • Enterprise Software and SaaS experience is highly desirable
  • Experience running programs aimed at developers, practitioners, and decision makers
  • Strong team orientation, humility, high EQ are critical.
