The Payroll Manager - North America is a highly developed, integral member of Elastic's Global Payroll community. We are looking for a seasoned payroll professional with an in-depth knowledge of the end to end pay cycle process, who brings a collaborative spirit and commitment of excellence to our team. You will lead all aspects and activities necessary to process payroll in the United States and Canada. As our organization grows, your skills and judgment will be exercised in obtaining solutions to scale and solve unique and complex payroll-related operational challenges. You must be proactive in identifying business solutions; able to improve and streamline payroll practices; be proficient in detailing policies and procedures; and able to develop tools, reporting and metrics. You will regularly interact and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels; and support the Sr. Manager to coordinate and meet company roadmaps and objectives.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Process semi-monthly, stock and off-cycle payrolls, multi-state
• Review and approve payrolls prepared by the Payroll Specialists
• Development, management and maintenance of payroll processes
• Planning and monitoring of daily workflows and pay cycle schedules to ensure accuracy and timely processing
• Serve as liaison to payroll vendors and facilitate vendor ratings for quarterly review
• Payroll data governance to include data portals, data controls, data analysis and repositories
• Payroll audit and reconciliation to include management of tools, resources, and templates
• Process a variety of documents in the employee life cycle: verification of employment, T4s, W2s
• Manage timekeeping system and process timesheets
• Support leadership and company by explaining payroll and tax related facts, practices, policies, etc.
• Supervise payroll staff of (1) Sr. Payroll Specialist and will use management techniques and leadership methods to train, motivate and support growth and development
• Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll activities
• Other duties and special tasks as required

What You Bring Along:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred
• Minimum of 8+ years of solid end-to-end payroll processing experience with at least 2 years of management experience with a direct report
• Prior experience in a multi-state, high volume, fast-paced payroll environment
• Experience in assessing, documenting, and implementing effective practices to payroll processes
• Working knowledge of current legislative requirements and IRS regulations
• Self-motivated by opportunities to gain knowledge and improve processes
• Thorough understanding of payroll, tax and benefits administration
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to balance multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
• Strong attention to detail and discretion, able to work confidentially
• Ability to work independently and well under pressure
• Exceptional work ethic, organization, and time management skills

Bonus Points:

• Workday and ADP experience preferred; TMF Horizon Experience a plus
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred. Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) is a plus
• Stock processing experience is a plus
• Previous implementation experience is a plus
