Part of the wider G&A Global Operations Team, the Global Workplaces Team is a relatively new department within Elastic with responsibility for real estate, capital project management, workplace operations, environment, health & safety, corporate & event security and enterprise risk management. With significant growth across the company and regions, we support 42 offices globally, with expansion plans over the next 3 years taking this to ~70 locations. In addition, with Elastic’s “Distributed First” workplace culture, we encourage and support Elasticians wherever they decide their workplace will be.
Our team has now established itself as a trusted partner to deliver workplace support and solutions that are aligned to Elastic’s operational needs. Focus is now on building out our capabilities in the areas of environment & sustainability, health & safety, corporate & event security and enterprise risk management. To drive the development of these functional areas we are looking for an energetic global leader to join our team, reporting to the director of global workplaces.
Building on the work done by the workplace operations team to date, you will develop a plan and set priorities for each of the functional areas of Environment & Sustainability, Health & Safety, Corporate & Event Security and Enterprise Risk Management. This will involve engaging internally across a number of functions such as HR, IT, Finance and Events (Internal / Corporate, External Fields Ops / Marketing), Sourcing and of course the rest of the global workplace team and external partner / service provider teams. With a need to develop and write policies that will require endorsement from senior executives, you will manage upwards a lot and be sensitive to Elastic’s way with words.
This position is suited to an experienced people and process leader, with a strong background in at least 2 or 3 of the 4 key functional areas, preferably on the international stage. Your experience will allow you to quickly establish key needs for developing and setting up systems, processes and training that will need to be put in place to ensure Elastic, its own teams, customers and workplaces are kept safe and compliant. This will all require educating and informing internal stakeholders, bringing them along the journey, not pushing them to the edge and for this you will be a strong communicator with a positive can-do attitude and able to demonstrate proactivity, taking initiative where needed. Experience of working to International norms and standards such as OSHA, ISO and other accredited bodies is essential.
Due to the wide geographical spread of our locations, while working closely with your workplace and other team members where possible, you will be expected to travel frequently, particularly to locations with significant projects, major events and senior stakeholders.
