The Enterprise Search Site Reliability team is responsible for ensuring the continued reliability and resilience of the Swiftype.com SaaS product Elastic Site Search. 

Swiftype is a fully hosted search solution for modern websites. Enter your website’s address, and Site Search will index your site and create your search engine in real-time. No coding required. Each engine comes with complete control over style and functionality, autocomplete, relevance tuning tools, analytics, and much more. Whether you are looking to increase conversion rates on your online store or generate higher engagement for your online publication, Site Search comes back with features to help you achieve your business objectives in no time.

We’re looking for people who are just as passionate about taking an engineering approach to solving operational problems as they are to utilizing data and feedback to work collaboratively to solve problems. SREs with an interest in infrastructure as code, distributed systems, and continuous improvement.

Swiftype SRE team also support the Enterprise Search team, whilst delivering valuable features for the Elastic Enterprise Search solution. Enterprise Search lets users easily implement powerful, modern search experiences for their websites, apps, or workplaces. Search it all, simply.

What You Will Do:

• Work as part of a team in ongoing platform modernization projects.
• Increase instrumentation and automation in all aspects of day-to-day operations for the Elastic Site Search platform.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues occurring in production, ensuring constant improvement of the systems as a result.
• You’ll be hands-on with the codebase, reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
• Flag, discuss, and implement solutions to areas of toil and persistent friction in production operations.
• Participate in the SRE team's production monitoring on-call rotation, daily pairing and weekly sync.

What You Bring Along:

• Experience deploying and operating SaaS applications in production, ideally utilizing Ruby on Rails.
• Experience in using Unix and Unix-like systems, such as any Linux/UNIX systems administrator.
• Experience with configuration and orchestration tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Terraform, Capistrano, etc).
• Experience with any enterprise monitoring systems like Nagios, Graphite, StatsD.
• Experience deploying and operating a relational database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc) in production.
• Empathy, compassion, and the ability to work effectively with other human beings.
