Security ML - Data Scientist

The Elastic Security Machine Learning team is looking for a Data Scientist to contribute to the maturation of our endpoint malware detection models, and help build models for entity analytics in the Elastic SIEM. You will work closely with ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and UX teams, to build and deploy new models, identify model blindspots, detect drift patterns, confidently label never-before-seen samples, and address questions like:

  • How to expose model outputs to users?
  • How does the performance of our models change over time?
  • What can we do to improve our models?

What you will be doing

  • You will have the opportunity to build models within the Elastic Stack, leveraging Elastic Security telemetry data, while collaborating with other teams at Elastic

What you will bring along

  • 2+ years of machine learning experience
  • Experience using or developing ML pipelines
  • Python programming skills
  • Ability to synthesize evaluation metrics, customer feedback, and internal analysis to communicate model performance
  • Enthusiasm for providing novel contributions to the information security research community on machine learning techniques

Bonus Points

  • Experience with java
  • Experience writing production-quality code
  • Malware or security background
  • Experience with any part of the Elastic stack

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $105,700 and $145,400, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
