Senior Director, Competitive Programs, Product Marketing (R5126)

We’re looking to add a new node to our cluster, passionate about driving competitive programs at Elastic across both Competitive Marketing (CM) and Competitive Intelligence (CI). This role reports to the VP of Global Product Marketing.

This leader will manage a team of CM and CI professionals providing coverage across our three solutions (enterprise search, observability, and security) as well as platform. As a leader, you will define and drive the Competitive Programs team charter, working closely with cross-functional teams including product management, solution architecture, campaigns, and sales enablement. Key projects include supporting a company-wide CI portal and newsletter, leading a comprehensive win-loss program, supporting strategic field enablement, and collaborating closely with product leadership to influence product strategy and roadmap.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and completing ongoing research on the competitive marketplace through different channels, including market research, industry analysts, win-loss analysis, and product research
  • Partnering with multiple go-to-market teams to deliver useful and current competitive updates to Sales
  • Monitoring and updating competitive positioning across the Elastic portfolio to support sales playbooks
  • Collaborating closely with both Product Management and Product Marketing to support competitive positioning of our solutions and influence our product roadmap
  • Bringing strong leadership and collaboration to the company, working as part of a larger marketing leadership team and helping nurture talent and team development
  • Defining objectives and key results for key CM and CI initiatives, driving consistency and alignment across solutions and platform
  • Addressing executive stakeholders and field leadership on key competitive strategies through internal events like Sales Kick-off and Quarterly Business Reviews

What You Will Bring:

  • Relevant domain expertise – confirmed industry experience in Cloud technologies, search, logging analytics and infrastructure monitoring, DevOps, security, or other related technologies.
  • Competitive Marketing (CI) and Competitive Intelligence (CI) practice experience
  • Track record of leadership, helping to both build and cultivate teams
  • Experience working with strategic enterprise customers with sophisticated requirements
  • Creative energy, courage to throw out the playbook, and out-of-the box thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation abilities
  • Technical depth to come up to speed on the Elastic portfolio and competitive marketplace, capable of learning quickly
  • Comfortable working in a very cross-functional role with a highly distributed team
  • Sales enablement experience is a requirement

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $195,600 and $269,100, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
