What is The Role:

The Senior Director of Product will manage, build, and scale Elasticsearch which is at the heart of Elastic - it’s the core search engine that everything we do at Elastic (Observability, Security, Enterprise Search) is built on top of, and as such, this is a high impact and high visibility role. Elasticsearch is one of the top 10 open source projects, ever, the responsibility to lead this product brings a lot of public attention with it. You will focus on growth and bringing its long-term vision to life.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead and grow a team of top notch product managers.
  • Define the vision and roadmap for Elasticsearch including search functionality, storage strategies, query languages, analytics and capabilities and cloud compatibility.
  • Partner with the engineering and technical leads to prioritise the roadmap and estimate realistic delivery timelines.
  • Work with downstream solution teams at Elastic to discover, align and prioritise their needs: understanding their use cases, timing requirements and helping think through phased approaches.
  • Work with our Sales & Marketing teams on go-to-market, messaging, competitive analysis, and enablement.
  • Interface with customers and the community for feedback and usage information to develop product insights.
  • Capture market competitive and trend data and inform product direction.

What You Bring:

  • History of leading product teams working on deeply technical products that have been through a comparable growth-stage.
  • Strong technical background, preferably in related domains such as databases, distributed data stores and search engines; must have the ability to discuss technical concepts in detail.
  • Experience operating at scale in a product leadership role in similar companies, with cloud products targeting technical audiences.
  • A player-coach who can drive high-level strategy and execute alongside their team to deliver the needs of the customer first
  • High EQ: bring technical and business acumen, compassion to the team, and someone who can help scale Elastic to the next level
  • A low-ego and open-minded driver of business who cares deeply about their people. A natural problem solver.
  • Intellectually curious, player coach with a drive towards the end user
  • Experience leading product management for multiple product lines. Can point to clear articulation of ownership and decision making across the product team and broader organisation to drive business outcomes
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams and client/user base
