About The Role

You will act as a hands-on developer of the Kibana Analytics team which is responsible for the data query and visualization UI that we provide to help users communicate and share their analysis with their colleagues and customers. This team owns many of Kibana’s core UI and capabilities like Dashboards, Discover, and Visualization Editors. This role will focus primarily on Lens, our newest Visualization Editor. You will be responsible for delivering the roadmap of the Kibana Analytics team, reinforcing the quality of work, managing the technical debt, updating the project status, and providing support to the other parts of the Kibana team.

Some of the things you'll work on

  • Work on Kibana, a popular open source project, to help people around the world do great things with their data.
  • Help define how developers build Kibana now and into the future
  • Contribute to Kibana Lens, an easy-to-use UI, that simplifies the process of data visualizations through a drag and drop experience
  • Help define the future of data analysis in kibana while embracing continuously-evolving modern web technologies
  • Write comprehensive tests, including unit tests, service-level, HTTP-level, UI component, and browser-level integration tests that provide confidence in the stability and function of Kibana
  • Collaborate with other experienced engineers, designers and other stakeholders both in Elastic and our open source community, as we work together to build clean user interfaces by providing the best UX for our users 

Requirements

  • Strong JavaScript programming skills
  • TypeScript experience
  • ​​Experience with modern JavaScript tooling like React, Redux/MobX/Flux, ES6
  • Deep understanding of the design, implementation, and consumption of REST APIs
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with git
  • 7+ years of experience developing scalable, high performing services and applications
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills 

Nice to have

  • Experience with Node.js
  • Record of inheriting existing medium-to-large scale projects
  • Experience using or managing the Elastic Stack and Kibana
  • Experience with data visualizations

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $113,200 and $155,700, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
