We are currently seeking an Education Engineer to join our Education team here at Elastic. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering technical training both virtual and on-site to our customers as well as helping to QA and work with our curriculum team on our library of training courses, which cover Elasticsearch, Kibana, Observability.

A successful candidate is very self-motivated as this is a very technical position that requires a person to keep up to speed with curriculum and does not require micro-management. The entire team works remotely, and we are happy to consider you wherever you live. Come join us at Elastic!

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Becoming a specialist in Elastic products, keeping up to date on changes/releases, and relaying that knowledge in the form of content development, training instruction, educational material, meetups, and conferences
  • Learning, creating and presenting compelling courses in extremely technical concepts clearly and concisely to large audiences in a way that fully engages our customers
  • Able to travel globally 50% or more
  • Collaborate with curriculum development team to create and update existing course materials and documentation
  • Having ability to work on your own initiative with fanatical attention to detail
  • Knowledge of curriculum design methodologies
  • Ability to deliver amazing material for not only private but public class delivery

What You Bring Along:

  • A demonstrated ability working as an engineer, developer, or integrator in search or related technologies
  • Experience as a technical instructor or public speaker to large audiences on enterprise infrastructure software technology to engineers, developers and other technical positions
  • BS in Computer Science or related engineering field
  • Solid understanding of Java and Linux/Unix environment, software development, and/or experience with distributed systems

Bonus Points:

  • Deep understanding of Elasticsearch and/or Lucene, including Elastic Certified Engineer certification
  • MS or PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related engineering discipline
  • Experience contributing to an open-source project or documentation
  • Experience in curriculum development for enterprise search or databases


Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.

$113,100$178,940 USD
The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is:
$135,900$215,050 USD
