Elastic is looking for an experienced leader of Web Design and UX that will uplevel the customer experience for our flagship web property, This is an opportunity to work with senior leadership in both our Design and Engineering teams to establish a market leading web presence for our global audience. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Web & Localization at Elastic, will lead a team of UX Designers, and will collaborate regularly with teams across the entire company. This is a player/coach position with the expectation that a successful candidate will need to work directly in design and code to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Ensure that UX is prioritized in company roadmaps by working with senior leadership and product teams.
  • Coach and develop a team of UX Designers as direct reports through one on ones, quarterly reviews and feedback loops.
  • Be hands on generating and reviewing the user experience designs for our most critical new capabilities.
  • Cultivate a culture of creativity and innovation within the team, with a focus on practical application and results.
  • Influence the direction of Elastic’s design system (EUI) as it relates to our global marketing web properties.
  • Effectively communicate user research results to multiple levels of the company in ways that drive impact.
  • Mentor Product Designers through one on ones, quarterly reviews and feedback loops
  • Making trade-offs and prioritizing work for the UX team to maintain the balance between short term delivery and long term results.

What You Bring Along:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing a team of designers as direct reports.
  • Working experience with prototype tooling (Figma, Framer, Sketch...etc)
  • Working experience around design code (CSS/JS) specifically with an understanding of maintenance and upkeep.
  • Experience managing user research practices and incorporating them into the development process.
  • Ability to think in design systems that scale to multiple use cases and balance flexibility with UX consistency.
  • Proficiency around visual design, iconography, typography and UX as a visual medium.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with a technical, enterprise product that understands both developers and business decision makers as a core personas.
  • Experience leading through change and rapid growth.
  • Implemented data-driven strategies in Design and have a familiarity with experimentation and telemetry.
