About the Team:

The Billing team’s mission is to provide a simple, transparent, and flexible SaaS billing experience to thousands of our users. Our team sits at the heart of Elastic’s business strategy, enabling the company to grow by developing capabilities like usage-based billing and marketplace integrations. We handle data pipelines that collect usage metrics from distributed data sources across AWS, GCP, and Azure and build upon a platform that monetizes millions of dollars of recurring revenue per year! About the Role:

We are looking for a front-line Software Engineering Manager to join our high impact team. You will mentor and lead a globally distributed team of 4 - 7 experienced engineers who are responsible for building and operating the Billing platform. This role requires coordination with Engineering and Product Management teams and is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative cross-team setting. With the team and your peers, you will iterate and grow our team's and our organization's processes and software.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Recruit and develop exceptionally talented engineers across the globe to build a diverse team.
• Partner with Technical Leaders, Product Managers, and peer engineering teams to develop the critical SaaS billing platform.
• Be a "player/mentor" for the team, getting involved in discussions about software development methodologies and design where required.
• Build roadmaps and lead prioritization; balance the right amount of structure and planning for a fast-paced engineering team.
• Establish effective project communication plans and ensure their execution.
• Foster a culture of mutual respect and collaborative decision-making.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

What You Bring Along:

• Experience leading diverse teams of Software Engineers as a Line Manager (People Manager).
• You care deeply about the resiliency of the services and quality of the features your team ships.
• Solid understanding of Data Architectures and Data Infrastructure ecosystem.
• An ability to communicate well with individuals and groups to accomplish a common set of goals.
• Knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals to understand the engineering work that is going on in your team.

Bonus Points:

• Experience working on Cloud Billing/Subscription Billing platforms.
• Familiarity of services from any of Azure, GCP or AWS.
• Experience as a hands-on Software Engineer.
• Curiosity about SaaS business metrics like growth, churn and retention.

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $126,800 and $174,400, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
