About the team

The Elastic Cloud QA Frameworks team’s primary focus is to empower teams with the tools and guidance to verify product quality so that we can release with confidence. We enable testing at every phase of development, with tools and feedback loops that identify quality risks as quickly as possible.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced software engineer to design and implement tooling, frameworks, and systems for writing tests, running tests, and reporting/analyzing test results. We want you to find creative shift-left solutions to help engineers identify issues fast, before they become customer-facing incidents. Our aim is to release software frequently, and boring releases is the mantra for this group. We need you to efficiently scale quality verification of those releases across both our on-prem product and our rapidly expanding cloud offering. This role requires coordination across several globally-distributed engineering teams within Elastic.

What you will be doing

  • Run a variety of projects related to testing frameworks, tooling, automation, continuous integration, deployment methodology, and much more.
  • Design and develop reliable and performant test frameworks.
  • Demonstrate and promote their usage across customer zero: our engineers.
  • Enable shift-left thinking through continuous integration and delivery.
  • Work with our other Engineering Productivity teams to improve our development workflow.
  • Use the Elastic Stack for testing and introspection of Elastic Cloud.
  • Collaborate across functions and mentor other engineers on a quality attitude.

What you bring along

  • You have a software engineering background with prior experience working as a quality engineer, developer, or software engineer focused on developer productivity.
  • You have strong experience with programming in a statically typed language like Java, Go, or Scala.
  • You have experience in delivering continuous integration in a SaaS environment.
  • You are passionate about software quality, developer productivity, and release processes.
  • We would love for you to bring some experience with QA tools integration, but would be happy if you are ready to learn.
  • You have operational experience with any of the major Cloud providers.
  • You possess a discerning attention to detial, and good humor for subtle jokes.
  • You are unafraid to dive into an unfamiliar problem, and have a strong desire for learning and growth.
  • You believe that a diverse company is a better company, and want to work with passionate colleagues all over the world.

What would be great

  • Experience writing or maintaining a test framework
  • Background with Python/Pytest or JavaScript/Cypress
  • Experience in managing a Selenium Grid infrastructure
  • Proficiency in performance testing
  • Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes and knowledge of their ecosystem
