About the Team

Elastic Cloud is a fully managed service for the Elastic Stack, Security, Observability, and Enterprise Search solutions, and we are looking for an experienced software developer to kickstart a new initiative called Deployment Monitoring. Our Cloud service is operated at global scale - across all top 3 public cloud providers, in 50 plus regions across the world, hosting mission critical workloads for customers in every industry!

This is a great opportunity to join and grow a new team that is starting an initiative from the ground up! The goal is to provide our users with out of the box alerts, notifications, health reports and recommendations for their Elastic Stack deployments on Cloud. Our team will build a new multi-tenant service that will continually monitor health data from tens of thousands of deployments, evaluate Elasticsearch topology and index configuration to ensure efficient operation as the users' consumption grows. We anticipate the number of Elasticsearch deployments managed and monitored by our service to grow to hundreds of thousands (with several nodes each!), so this presents a unique opportunity to design a distributed system at scale!

What You Will Be Doing

  • Applying your experience in software development to craft and build new features in Elastic Cloud, taking into consideration usability, scalability and multi-tenancy aspects
  • Spending time reviewing and writing design documents, reviewing Pull Requests and exploring new implementation ideas
  • Working closely with the Elasticsearch, Observability and Machine Learning teams to implement the Deployment Monitoring capability building on our own products
  • Mentoring other engineers and contributing to engineering standards and technical hiring practices
  • Partnering with the Customer Support teams and Product Managers to understand and solve for customer challenges when running deployments at scale
  • Contributing heavily to large cross-functional projects that have a significant impact on the business

What You Bring Along

  • You care deeply about the design and quality of the features you ship
  • In-Depth knowledge developing and leading software projects for 10-12 years
  • You are highly proficient in Scala or Go, conversant in the standard library of data structures and concurrency constructs
  • A strong customer focus for building SaaS products that are simple and intuitive to use
  • Experience working with any of the major Cloud providers - Azure, GCP or AWS.
  • You can lead technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions within your team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience using Observability, Performance or Availability tools or services at scale
  • Ego-free attitude — we are here for the success of the team and the company

What Would Be A Great Addition

  • Experience deploying and managing the Elastic Stack or ELK - Elasticsearch, Logstash, Beats and Kibana
