About the team:

We are looking for an outstanding Principal Developer to join our Elastic Security Solution team. This person will be responsible for designing and developing technical solutions related to cloud runtime security on the Adaptive Workload Protection team (AWP).

The AWP team provides visibility, instrumentation and protection for dynamic cloud workloads and infrastructure. Our solution aims to observe and protect our customers’ cloud workloads running in Kubernetes, virtual machines or serverless environments.

The right candidate will have prior experience building a product installed on the customer’s infrastructure. They will help design and develop the AWP Team’s BPF sensor technology. They will work with the Linux kernel and be required to be knowledgeable about its latest features and capabilities.

Finally, this person should have experience with cloud-native deployments and architecture. They should be able to keep up with these technologies to make sure the solution evolves and remains highly effective!

• Work alongside a team of experienced Linux engineers to develop observability and security features. To do this, you will contribute both kernel and user space code.
• Work closely with a small team and collaborate more broadly across Elastic to deliver on features and releases
• Drive excellence in the codebase, contributing to a reliable foundation and an engaging user experience
• Guide product-focused engineering efforts to invent and ship valuable and meaningful features to an exciting market.
• Engage with and lead capable engineers, designers, and many others, as we work together to introduce exciting solutions. We practice teamwork!
• Work in C/C++ and Go

What You Bring Along

• A detailed approach to communication, a good sense of humour, and a genuine interest in the success and growth of the people you work with
• A track record of success developing for Kubernetes and an understanding of its architecture
• Experience building a centrally managed Linux service
• BPF experience and a deep understanding of the Kernel concepts that power it
• Practical experience with OS concepts such as IPC, threads, processes, and scheduling
• Deep knowledge of the Linux process execution model, terminals, and shells
• CPU and memory management and tooling used for their optimization

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $152,200 and $209,300, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
