About the role

The Control Plane team is responsible for the SaaS platform that Elastic engineering teams are deploying their services to and delivering these services to Elastic customers. 

In this role, you will be working in the team responsible for enabling Elastic engineering teams to deploy their offerings into our SaaS platform, such as Elasticsearch, including the new Elasticsearch Stateless architecture that runs on Kubernetes.

You will be responsible for building services for our SaaS platform, including building Kubernetes controllers and applying GitOps practices using Argo CD while working in a highly scalable SaaS environment. You’ll also get to work with engineers from other teams to build new features and capabilities.

What you will be doing

  • Implement Kubernetes operators/controllers and other services and be responsible for their deployment into Elastic’s production environment
  • Collaborate with other engineering, QA and documentation teams to execute on product deliverables.
  • Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions
  • Debug and troubleshoot critical production technical issues
  • Mentor new team members, both junior and senior
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers focused on delivering Elastic’s SaaS offerings

What you will bring along

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and communication between services
  • Professional and in-depth experience with Go with strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with individuals and groups to accomplish a common set of goals
  • Experience working with Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP

Bonus Points

  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes and its ecosystem (i.e. service meshes, scalability, volume management, etc.)
  • Experience with Kubernetes Operators/Controllers development
  • Experience with working in a Kubernetes based SaaS environment
  • Experience working with Argo CD / Cosmos DB / the Elastic stack
