The observability lead role spans beyond that of an observability advocate to include strategy, enablement, and initiatives. This role is part strategist, part advocate, and part facilitator. You will serve as a liaison between the observability community and Elastic’s engineers and this role will focus on critical initiatives to grow and enable Elastic’s observability community.

Observability advocates serve as force-multipliers in observability technology adoption. They are change agents and work to convince their intended audience that there is a need for change, build a proven information exchange relationship, aid in the deployment, and attempt to ensure long-term adoption. Advocacy includes public speaking engagements at conferences and meetups, delivering workshop content at conferences or other community events, crafting demos and tools, blogging, maintaining a social media presence, crafting and maintaining content, promoting standard methodologies, educating and persuading, and serving as a change agent for technology adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a global observability community strategy.
  • Increase awareness and adoption of the Elastic observability solution/product.
  • Grow the global Elastic observability community through advocacy, events, and programs tailored to practitioners.
  • Enable other community geographies to grow local observability communities by arming them with engagement strategy, content, and other tools for success.
  • Facilitate community engagement among other Elastic observability specialists.
  • Facilitate targeted outreach to communities or groups of interest. (Ex: women in observability)
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and product marketing to promote cross-functional alignment.
  • Form relationships with observability industry professionals and influencers.
  • Stay current with observability technology trends as well as Elastic’s solution.

Requirements

  • Be a specialist in the field of observability *Elastic observability experience preferred.
  • Tried work experience as a community advocate, manager, or similar role.
  • Experience planning and leading community initiatives.
  • Ability to execute observability community critical initiatives.
  • Ability to identify and supervise relevant community important metrics.
  • Excellent verbal communication, writing, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail, critical-thinker, and problem-solver.

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $135,900 and $186,900, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
