Engaging with our community is wildly meaningful. Whether in person or virtually at a conference, meetup, or in a discussion forum, Slack, or GitHub, the Community team’s mission is to educate and help our users succeed. 

Today, we span ten countries, speaks more than a dozen languages, and frequently travel to spread knowledge about Elastic, our products, and solutions. While community is essential to every Elastic team, the Community team is lucky enough to get to think about it full time.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Champion the Elastic community in the Americas
  • Build technical content around the Elastic Stack for talks, blog posts, videos, and demos
  • Organize and speak at virtual and in-person events in your region and throughout the Americas. 
  • Answer technical questions on Discuss, Slack, social media, and at events
  • Help users be successful with Elastic’s stack, solutions, and cloud offering
  • Work on internal tooling and applications

What You Bring Along:

  • Technical background and experience
  • Proven track record of building compelling content about technology — including speaking, writing, and demoing 
  • Kindness and compassion for the community to help them tackle their issues, provide internal feedback to make Elastic’s products better, and fix struggles where possible
  • Comfort working in a highly distributed team
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a digestible way 
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English 
Bonus Points:
  • Involvement in past Elastic Community events as speaker or organizer
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases. Maybe even Elasticsearch.
  • Familiarity with data ingestion tools. Maybe Logstash and Beats.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools. Maybe even Kibana.
  • Experience with security, observability, or DevOpsBackground in security, operations,
  • Experience with a programming language — static, functional, or dynamic
  • Experience with open source software or commercial open source companies
  • Elastic Certified Engineer certification
  • Proficiency in additional language(s), specifically Spanish.  
What to expect in the first six months: 
  • A general understanding of the Elastic community, the programs we support, and the tools we use. 
  • Opportunity to take training to acquire a foundational understanding of the Elastic Stack. 
  • Build relationships with community organizers and members in the US and Canada. 
  • Comfortability to begin responding to community questions in our forums and across social media platforms. 
  • Ability to identify the needs of the community, and connect those needs to the more useful content, and how to locate the needed content. 
  • Awareness of what areas of community engagement such as audience, platforms, and topics you feel you can contribute the most to.

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $113,200 and $155,700, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
