Elastic is seeking a Managing Editor of our corporate blog to manage an in-house newsroom, own an editorial calendar that supports awareness of brand, product and talent, lead amplification strategies, add to the creativity and journalistic sensibility of the team, and grow reader engagement and conversion. This position will also serve as an important partner to the broader marketing team, as well as corporate functions and senior executives, to create publishing strategies, write or edit content, and consult on how to achieve business goals through editorial and publishing solutions.

What you’ll do in this role

  • Develop and lead the design and strategy for an updated corporate newsroom and editorial platform to scale the impact of our highly successful corporate blog.  
  • Create and own editorial calendar in collaboration with the team, with feedback from senior executives and business functions.
  • Own editorial and publishing plans that help the business scale its audience and drive users from brand awareness to product consideration. 
  • Manage a team of skilled editors and writers, as well as independently write stories, to create best-in-class brand journalism. 
  • Think holistically and creatively about the reader’s journey, and develop compelling and actionable content across those channels. 
  • Build relationships with the most talented engineers, product managers and product marketers to bring their ideas to life through our channels, anchored by your expertise in how best to create, engage, and publish. 
  • Inform organic social media publishing strategies, content creation, and retargeting programs.
  • Monitor audience engagement metrics regularly to optimize editorial content, site design, and engagement strategy. Regularly guide stakeholders through opportunities for redesign, A/B testing, new formats to improve business outcomes. 
  • Create and regularly present plans, timelines, objectives, and reporting to senior business leaders.
  • Lead editorial guidelines.

What you bring

This role is ideal for someone with editing and writing experience in journalism, and strategic communications and brand publishing experience in a corporate setting. You’ve led teams, scaled an editorial platform, and have a track record growing audience engagement. You agree that content isn’t an end unto itself. You understand how to connect editorial to business outcomes and the importance of advancing users on a buyer journey. You understand the developer audience and the C-Suite audience–and the type of content that lands for each. You are a self-starter with proven project and business management skills, and the ability to operate in a highly visible and accountable role. You are goal-oriented, genuinely curious, and constantly looking for ways to learn and improve. You are comfortable with spreadsheets and analyzing metrics to make decisions and identify creative opportunities. You understand SEO and organic growth strategies.
