Reporting to the VP, Americas Legal Commercial, we are hiring a Legal Director to join our department in this fast growing, truly globally distributed company! This position is ideal for a self-sufficient and resourceful attorney, and we will consider candidates located anywhere in the continental United States. This is a growth position in a fast-paced technology company covering SaaS, Licensing and Managed Services.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • You will serve as the legal department’s strategic business partner to Elastic's Global channel leader.
  • You will lead a distributed team of commercial attorneys in Amer, with responsibility for all larger customer and channel contracts in the Americas, as well as large, strategic licensing contracts.
  • You will negotiate and structure a wide variety of commercial contracts, supporting our Sales and Partner organizations, with a particular focus on strategic transactions.
  • You lead the strategic partnership as the subject matter authority in the area of global commercial competition laws, partnering with our legal team members in EMEA and APJ on partner agreements in those regions.
  • You will collaborate with our cross functional internal partners who enable Elastic’s go-to-market opportunities.
  • You will help build and strengthen workflows, and processes between our department and other departments within Elastic to enable dealmaking and compliance initiatives relating to channel agreements; we will rely on your expertise, as such, to shape the company's commercial contracts and playbooks.

What You Bring Along:

  • You have proven experience in the drafting and negotiation of complex technology contracts (including MSP, OEM, Reseller, cloud/ SaaS and software subscription contracts, public sector government procurement contracts, and related professional services supply contracts), with any combination of in-house and law firm roles (~ 8-10 years).
  • You have expertise in competition law and a willingness to further develop this expertise with Elastic's support.

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $153,800 and $211,500, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
