We are seeking an innovative leader for our Director of Legal Operations who has a strong background in building processes, implementing IT tools, and supporting a growing legal team. In this role, you will report directly to the Head of our Public Sector, Global Trade Compliance, and Legal Operations Teams. You will also lead a team of several professionals. The ideal candidate will be able to support the Legal Department in partnership with the Legal Leadership Team and other internal collaborators across the organization.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee, and help us deliver on the legal team's annual operational goals, both for the business and in support of our team's professional development.
  • Promoting our mission, drive implementation of processes and technologies that enable us to operate effectively on foundational matters like intake, contracting, task tracking, knowledge and records management, and other critical needs to run the business of the department (e.g., vendor/firm relationships and billing).

  • Design and implement resources to communicate to broader business roles and responsibilities in the Law Department and how to engage all professionals across our team in an efficient and user-friendly manner.
  • Establish Legal Operations goals, as our department needs evolve, with a growth mindset, and design methods for measuring attainment of them.
  • Organization of legal functions including memberships and subscriptions, trainings, broader team meetings.

What you bring:

  • You are a self-starter, problem-solver, with strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills and who pays attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated abilities in operational excellence, to independently and collaboratively track and move projects forward while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Ability to organize, think critically, strategically and tactically, meet deadlines yet remain flexible in a dynamic multi-task and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills with internal collaborators, outside vendors, and other parties.
  • Strong experience in researching, implementing and using legal department technology tools (or similar), such as records management and e-billing.
  • Bachelor's degree required; paralegal, legal management, or legal operational certificate from an accredited program a plus; graduate or Juris Doctorate degree a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in legal function or business/finance operations field that will help you understand the needs of the in-house law department; time leading a similar role a plus (equivalent-type roles will be considered - share your creativity!).

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $153,800 and $211,500, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.

Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within a holistic total rewards offering.
