At Elastic, we see endless possibility in a world of endless data. And we use the power of search to help people and organizations turn that possibility into results. Elastic is the leading platform for search-powered solutions. With solutions in Enterprise Search, Observability, and Security, we help improve customer and employee search experiences, keep critical applications running smoothly, and protect against cyber threats. Elastic enables organizations worldwide to use the power of Elastic, including Netflix, Uber, BBC, Microsoft, and thousands of others.
Elastic was built on a foundation of being free and open, which trickles down to how we work. We’re a distributed organization and have been from the beginning. Being distributed isn’t just a way of doing business—it’s a mentality that is at the core of our culture.
The Observability team is in charge of developing solutions that focus on application developers and engineers that run infrastructure and services supporting these applications. The Elastic stack is an efficient platform for logs, metrics, application traces and most recently - stacktraces or continuous profiling data, enabling a variety of proactive and reactive workflows ranging from monitoring, diagnostics to security and user analytics. The Observability team builds and maintains solutions that make getting insights from this data turnkey and efficient, such as our APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, Logs, and Synthetic Monitoring solutions. When developing these solutions, we think about the problem end-to-end: how do we automatically collect data from common data sources, how do we store it efficiently in Elasticsearch, how do we present this information to the user, how do we correlate and enhance across data sources, what actions do we take on the insights from the data? All of these aspects are important in bringing a turnkey solution to the market.
As a product manager in Elastic Observability you will work collaboratively with the team/tech leads and engineers of the Profiling team. With the recent acquisition of Optimyze (developers of prodfiler.com), you will get a unique chance to work with the latest technologies based on eBPF to bring continuous profiling to our customers. You will focus on discovering, designing and bringing to life new functionality to help SREs and developers detect and diagnose various problems, in both production and test environments, using continuous, system-wide profiling.
You will be successful in this role if you have a passion for systematically digging into and understanding customer needs, combined with a desire to create products that are used and loved across the globe.
This role will require a combination of product management and technical knowledge in order to design and deliver the best product experience for SREs and developers. An ideal candidate will care deeply about understanding customer’s problems and have a background either in performance analysis specifically, or a related technical field. They will be happy both defining high level product vision, and getting into the low level details of performance issues and how our products can solve them.
Work on hard problems - Our long term vision is observability both at scale (entire data center) and in depth (entire operating system). This requires solving a variety of problems involving large scale data gathering/transmission/storage as well as deep understanding of operating system and programming language internals. Along the way we are continuously looking for new technologies (e.g. ebpf) to help us solve these problems.
Work on meaningful problems - Deep/wide observability is a competitive differentiator. Companies that have it can detect problems and opportunities that their competitors cannot, leading to more efficient, scalable and better performing solutions. The margin/cost-of-goods-sold for SaaS companies is largely related to their cloud costs, and improvements on this is a C-level goal for many companies.
Work with smart and curious people - Our existing team has a background in diverse areas and technologies. We hire people with a love of deep understanding and building great software.
Work in a great environment - Elastic strives to ensure employees maintain work-life balance while still being ambitious and playing to win.
As a distributed company, diversity drives our identity. Whether you’re looking to launch a new career or grow an existing one, Elastic is the type of company where you can balance great work with great life. Your age is only a number. It doesn’t matter if you’re just out of college or your children are; we need you for what you can do.
We strive to have parity of benefits across regions and while regulations differ from place to place, we believe taking care of our people is the right thing to do.
Different people approach problems differently. We need that. Elastic is committed to diversity as well as inclusion.
