As a Senior Director, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting, you will play a crucial hands-on role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of our financial reporting. Reporting to the VP, Assistant Controller, this role will be a trusted business partner on accounting and reporting matters - your expertise in technical accounting and your deep understanding of U.S.GAAP reporting requirements and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will be instrumental in guiding our organization through complex financial matters and ensuring adherence to reporting standards. This highly visible leadership position plays a meaningful role in maintaining the highest level of financial integrity and providing valuable insights to support key decision-making processes.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the SEC and International Statutory reporting processes, including preparation and filing of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, related 8-K's and other US filings as applicable, in addition to IFRS group financials and local statutory financial statements for several subsidiaries
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on complex technical accounting issues, including investments, leases, business combinations, stock-based compensation, and other areas per GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Serve as a technical advisor on revenue recognition and tax matters to the revenue and tax teams
  • Lead the Company's disclosure committee meetings on a quarterly basis.
  • Assess and analyze the financial impact of potential transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and standards.
  • Partner with both internal and external business partners, including auditors, to address and resolve data issues.
  • Assist Investor Relations team as needed with investor engagement activities, including preparation materials for key investor quarterly reporting.
  • Research, analyze, implement new and existing accounting and reporting pronouncements, utilizing authoritative guidance, and determining external disclosure requirements.
  • Provide technical accounting training to finance and accounting teams, ensuring a strong understanding of accounting principles and compliance requirements.
  • Analyze financial data, trends, and performance metrics to present insightful reports to senior leadership.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of financial systems, processes, and controls to streamline reporting and increase efficiency.
  • Assist with month-end close activities as needed.
  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as required
  • Act as a mentor and leader, fostering professional development within the finance organization.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification
  • Big 4 (assurance or advisory) or a national public accounting firm experience
  • Experiential knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting at publicly traded companies.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and SEC regulations
  • Experience with a compliance filing solution, such as Workiva
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial collaborators.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while successfully delivering results
  • A highly developed problem solver who takes charge of creating solutions.

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.

The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is:
$240,300$380,190 USD
