The Payroll Director is a hands-on leader for Americas payroll operations (including the U.S., Canada, and Latin America) within finance. The Director will develop the overall strategic vision for global payroll, driving automation, standardization, and serving as lead contact for our vendors and our cross-functional teams for payroll processes. What You Will Be Doing:

  • Leading a distributed team for payroll operations, including payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and inquiry management.
  • Developing and leading the global payroll strategy and roadmap. Interlock the roadmap with cross-functional partner teams, IT, vendors, and budget planning.
  • Leading/representing the team through new processes or projects (e.g. implementation of ESPP and the related impact to payroll, integration between systems, etc). The ability to think end-to-end on process changes is essential!
  • Developing KPIs and relevant metrics to supervise performance and inspire change within the organization.
  • Preparing quarterly business reviews and addressing senior leadership.
  • Reviewing existing and crafting new processes for scale and automation, balanced with the need for accuracy and compliance.
  • Point of escalation for questions, issues, or concerns from across the business and senior leadership.
  • Staying ahead of global regulatory requirements and ensure Elastic is positioned for compliance.
  • Standardizing documentation and procedures/process globally and ensure SOX compliant payroll policies and documentation are in place.

What You Bring:

  • 12+ years in payroll in a public, global company environment.
  • U.S. Workday payroll experience required. Familiarity with Ceridian and TMF a plus.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and SOX experience.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. federal, state and local payroll regulations, including payroll tax, reporting and required filings.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Take the complicated or convoluted and keep it simple and scalable.

The typical starting Total Cash Compensation range for new hires in this role is between $153,800 and $211,500, which consists of a Base Salary or a Base Salary plus a Target Commission, depending on the specific role. The Base Salary offered may vary depending on factors including skills and experience.
