The Accounting team is seeking a General Ledger Accountant in India, to support our US-based team. This person will perform the day-to-day ledger entries primarily in respect to fixed assets, leases, prepaids, accruals and payroll transactions. Our business is growing very quickly and while you will be empowered to take ownership of your work product, there will be times that action will be required without extensive up-front guidance, but you would never go it alone. Reporting to the local Accounting Manager, you will work with many groups within and outside of Elastic, including: Facilities, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Consolidations, FP&A, Tax, Internal Audit and external auditors and consultants as needed.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Process Fixed Asset transactions, communicate with Facilities team to track construction projects, generate assets, run depreciation and help prepare schedules for financial reporting. 
  • Process payroll transactions processing for our global organization
  • Analyze and maintain complex general ledger balance sheet accounts by gathering data, reconciling the general ledger control accounts to sub-ledgers, and explaining variances
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries resulting from the balance sheet reconciliation process, variance analysis, and quarter-end close
  • Communicate across the departments to resolve outstanding reconciliation items in a timely manner for month end close
  • Ensure the accurate reporting of general ledger accounting in the company’s accounting system by performing key accounting internal controls
  • Participate in preparing and supplying documentation for the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors, internal audit SOX control requests, other accounting team data requests, and executive management special projects
  • Participate in special projects as needed

What You Bring Along:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or local equivalent) in Accounting
  • Robust analytical skills and multitasking capabilities, adherence to deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • 5-6 years experience working in a publicly traded company (ideally hyper-growth tech)
  • Experience with foreign currency and multiple international subsidiaries EMEA, APAC, North America (preferred)
  • Flexibility to work cross functionally monthly within various department workgroups located in various time zones (i.e. Hire-to-Retire, Procure-to-Pay-Prepaids, Fixed Assets, and Accruals), overlapping working hours with US time zones
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Knowledge of NetSuite, CoStar and Workday (preferred)
  • Experience with US GAAP reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and internal controls
  • Flexibility to scale to different opportunities as they arise within the department as the company grows to broaden your overall skill set
